I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Iowa, currently ABD and near completion on my dissertation entitled “Monstrous Queens in Late Medieval English Romance” under Kathy Lavezzo’s direction. I specialize in medieval gender and sexuality studies, with particular focuses on late medieval English queen consorts, monstrous medieval depictions of female bodies, medieval alterity, and representations of medieval Jews. I am a huge fan of all things medieval, and of most medievalisms. Currently, I’m really into Game of Thrones and still have to pinch myself because the show really is THAT good and really does exist. I’m also an Arthurian geek, and follow Arthurian reiterations like BBC’s “Merlin.” Additionally, I act as webmaster for the University of Iowa Medieval and Early Modern Reading Group. I can be reached at thomas-blake@uiowa.edu.
